2010 Projected Section XI Tournament Results

Glenn  loaded with talented seniors should be able to win it  once again.

Longwood moving up at notch from 2009, and will be battling with Glenn for the title .

Hauppauge well balanced with a strong senior core right in the mix with Glenn and Longwood for the championship .

Huntington still have talented nucleus, curious to see how they perform for new staff in 2nd year .

Rocky Point led by the 3 amigos, could be a huge drop off after this year .

Connetquot Also heavy senior laden team , should send a ton of kids to tournament as L2 is even weaker with Commack out .

Riverhead always puts out a competitive team , and now with returning talent .

Westhampton returning entire team that had respectable finish in 2009.

Sachem East  ready to crack top 10 after years of hard work .

East Islip another Senior laden team that should be competitive .

on the brink BRENTWOOD , WEST BABYLON.

nice colors----but I would disagree greatly with your Rankings.

Recall Rocky Point has 3 returning County Champs if they do the same again then thats 90 something points right off the bat, and there supporting cast is a lot deeper then last year, where they barely got any points.

This year they should get points at 103,119,125,160,189,215,( if not shame on them) to go along with the 3 returning county champs.

Even 3-4 place winners out of those to go along with 3 county champs will make them very hard to beat, but again after Glenn,Longwood,Hauppauge and Rocky Point, there are no teams that should come within striking distance of them at the counties.

You can only lead the kids to the water you can't make them drink it, I do have high hopes for this year. They will and should be battling for 1st place.

I'm sure too, but not many have 4 ALL-STATE WRESTLERS in there line-up either...so all we need is others to step up and be fine.

Speaking for myself, I do not mind the underdog role. Newsday went on record saying Sachem was going to beat us(Longwood) back in 1987, and we went on to win the single best dual meet in the history of Suffolk County. Every single match went the distance.

Rocky Point will be just fine. They didn't lose no points from last year, so it can only get and will be better....

But then again, who in there right mind would of picked or thought East Islip would defeat Islip in the counties.

So in the end we can all be wrong.

But Suffolk County is very very deep which is a tribute to all the hard work all the programs have done.

I very confident in saying the Top 4 teams will be in no order-
Glenn-Hauppauge-Longwood and Rocky Point, but those are without a doubt the top 4 teams.

no not even close to the Islip team. Islip was very very good . Being head and heels above the rest of the county without a doubt. This year there are 5 teams that have a very good shot at winning the counties.

Rocky Point is one of them without a doubt. Hauppauge,Longwood,Glenn and Huntington will all have something to say about it.

I like my chances with Rocky Point but I'm sure the other 4 teams like there chances as well and I do not blame them.

Ketch

Glenn has 6 returning sectional placer winners
   Longwood  and Haupp 5
   Huntington and  RP 3

also regarding RP you cant get many more pts out of the 3 than you did last year (maybe a few more pin pts)  Most of the other teams have room to score more .

Last year is last year...This year starts 0-0. I agree with those other 3 stated as point scores from Rocky Point and two more kids could score points, so I'm not concerned at the moment. The first match didn't even happen yet, a injury here or there could hurt any team.

Last year, Longwood lost the League's because of a kid having ringworm. And missed out on points.

So I tend to look at the full picture.

I'll tell you this, if Rocky Point does get 3-4 more place winners on top of 3 county champs, I like our chances very very well.

So you don't really disagree "greatly" with the original poster you just think "your" team will finish higher which I'm sure everyone who is affiliated with a team thinks the same thing.

In my opinion the team that wins the tournament will definitley have to break 200 points.

Ketch all the teams are hoping  for the same thing as you , those 3 or 4 guys to score points and place :

L wood : Jennings, Licausi , Renck ,Nicosia etc..

Haupp  :  Menendez , Ellinger , West, Bonaventura ,Panebianco

  Glenn : Fusaro,Dekrone, Cheatham , K.Meinsen  etc.

Its should be a very interesting season !

As I said you can't go wrong with any of them, as I posted 100 times, but I like Rocky Point's chances, to many good teams this year, will be fun.

New guy, slow your roll....Top 4 teams are Longwood,Hauppauge,Glenn and Rocky Point, teams looking in Huntington,Connetquot and West Babylon.

I've stated 101 times already that any of those top 4 teams can win and as I stated someone can win like East Islip beating Islip.

So read everything before you post.

Not ever team has 4 All-State wrestlers on there team, so your damn right I like there chances, but I'm not foolish enough not to see that Longwood ,Hauppauge and John Glenn are talented. Huntington has 1 All-State wrestler, and 3 all county wrestlers but as always Huntington always comes ready to wrestle, I've posted this countless times. Welcome...lol

ketch, When East Islip beat Islip, they had 9 kids place, 4 in the finals. I agree with what your saying.R.P. is right up there to win it, but they need what East Islip had that year, A great tourny, where many wrestlers stepped it up. We know they have the hammers to do damage.

agreed 110%. I've seen a lot of upset's over my lifetime, one defeat here and there and you looking up at people you never will catch. Everything right now is pure speculation, It's hard to know where people will have a shot until everyone falls into place, and even then you can only hope for the best. Glenn climbed the mountain last year, this was a D-2 a few years ago, so they are as Ric Flair would said " to be the man you have to beat the man". The team race could very well go down to the final match of the county tournament, it may come down to the 275lb match, this is how tight I expect the team race to be this year. What's good is the top teams are spread out a little this year, so there is less of chance of taking away points from each-other. Winning the county team title is no easy feat. I would totally be in shock in those 4 teams didn't finish top 4. Again shows the commitment these coaches made to there teams. Again it started with all 4 teams going to dual meet tournaments and other team tournaments from a young age. This is why I'm holding a youth dual meet tournament on January 24th, so teams should come, and start building the future. We are also going to a dual tournament in Nassau. Wrestle as a team early will pay off in the long run. Sorry for rambling...

No need to apologize.I agree. Every year at counties,I always find myself waiting for those underdog wrestlers who step up.
