These are not official until after all the certifications are done.If you have any thoughts or see that I am missing someone please let me know. I've heard stories about kids going so many different weight classes it's not even funny, Some weights may differ from Section XI and Section VIII rankings. Won't be able to do correctly until after the cert's are done! Not interested in who is going what weight, interested in if I have all the correct guys or if I am missing someone. Impossible for me to look over every match result or keep track of D1-D2 move up move down.....Thank you!

NOTE: These are only D-1 state rankings, due to the fact D-1 and D-2 do not wrestle each-other in the States, it would not be fair to rank people over people who will not wrestle each-other at the States and get to decide the outcome on the mat!

This could be there best year if they wrestle the way they should....It's a great job by the coaching getting them to this level.

thanks ketch - this could be a great year for the CHSAA

we return a state champ (green) a former state champ in lenzi, and two top 4 guys brienza and morris. In addition fowler from chaminade was one match from placing last year and villaret and carlo have also improved and hope to get to the top of the state podium as well. Its nice to see the kids from several schools chsaa schools (st.anthony's, farrell, chaminade and fordham prep)

Tyler Beckwith is not listed, arguably the #1 wrestler in NYS this year.  Going 189 I assume.

Yeah he could very well be but it's a shame they have two division, I recall hearing the same thing about Donnie Vision and King Louie....and Corey beat Louie down to 119 and Johnny G beat Vision, so the only way to know for sure is when people wrestle each-other in a 6 min match.

Ranking D1-D2 guys together is pointless, because the matches are never settled on the mat...People can rank them together but for what reason I don't!

Then at the end of the year you get people who will do end of season rankings, ranking D-1 and D-2 guys together and trying to guess who is the better wrestler, that makes me laugh because as shown in the past anything can happen. Lets rank the D-2 State Champ 1st because I think he can beat the D-1 state champ, it doesn't work like that....D-2 and D-1 should have there own rankings. And I will continue to do the D-1 state rankings....I'm sure people read them, if they like them I don't know, but at least the guys I rank have a chance to settle it on the mat, not on paper!

neversaydie....It is easy to see that you have passion and knowledge of this great sport. I can tell that your goal is not only to enjoy wrestling but participate in its health and growth. With that in mind I would like to ask: Why not provide a D2 state ranking? Whether or not one agrees with the divisions we can all agree that the young men involved in D2 are as committed as any D1 wrestler. By catering to only D1 you risk alienating others who are, at the very least, important to the future of this sport. In many instances those at the D2 state tourny would place in a combined tournament. Many D1 state qualifier's would not reach states if the divisions were combined. While we can debate the last 2 points, I have to believe that someone with your passion would not intentionally alienate anyone who shared love for this sport. BTW I know many a D2 wrestler who spend much of their season wrestling in tournaments with those D1 wrestlers with great success.

We got a live one....lol....
it was going so well without anyone asking me about weights after I kindly asked them in my opening statement....but what the hell.....

I think he will try to get there but you never know if he will get certified at that weight. If anyone has shown they can make weight it's Kenny....

 Wiggles,

Your right but then again this is wrestling and people do strange things..I stopped trying to make sense. I'm sure he will try to get certified for 112 and wrestle most of matches at 119.

 SE,
I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. I understand where your coming from and by me ranking D-1 guys only, it's not my attention to upset nobody. I just feel like it would be impossible for me to rank kids that will never meet. Like last year 103-Realbuto or Robinson, a lot of people picked Robinson but I thought Realbuto would of beaten him in the States, or 135 lat year. My choice would of been Dutton in the state finals, with that said, bottom line we will never know for sure who would of won because they didn't wrestle one another in the state tournament.

I also rank the D-1 only for the fact that grouping them together also leaves out the D-1 kids who will place in the states or have a shot.

In Football and other sports they do Big School-Small School ranking's. In wrestling it's two different divison's with two separate tournament's, so I feel it's only right to treat it that way. It's nothing personal on my behalf, I just feel the top 6 in each division should get ranked in there own separate division. I like to see my body of work at the end of the year, not with what if's but with wrestlers who will wrestle each-other.

As for doing D-2 state ranking's, I'm so overloaded right now I'm lucky I was able to provide the ones I did.

I thank you very much for your kind words it means a lot to me. And I do value every-ones opinion, even if I do not say so at times. It's nice to know that people do read them regardless if I agree or not.

Thanks much for your thoughtful reply. As usual your consideration is one of quality . For that reason, its my hope, when time permits, you will apply your considerable knowledge to D2 rankings. Thanks again

Wow, "Relabuto would have taken Robinson."
I am a Section 1 supporter and a Realbuto fan. But I can't see how anyone who watched those two wrestle in the Easten States finals could come to that conclusion. I realize a lot changes during the course of a wrestling season, and this year could be a different story, but last year, Robinson was it.

after watching both wrestle at the States I though Realbuto was on fire, there where bigger upsets then that. Just my thoughts

Collado is going 119 from what I heard, and my source on this is very reliable. So that changes the landscape a little. Corrected 112-119 as needed.
