Why are brackets not coming up on track?

They're still not up?  Way to go, Nassau.

And I'm not sure what the formula is for seeding in these brackets, but they should probably throw that formula away because they're completely dopey.

Lol I honestly don’t know how they didn’t just take a page from Section XI’s book, in regards to seeding.

Still confused at how Suffolk County is so far ahead of Nassau in terms of the quality of the product for the county championships. Suffolk has brackets up on Track all weekend with footage for every match, and Nassau there's no bracket to be found of any kind all weekend and only video coverage of the finals. I know they sell the paper brackets at the actual arena for Nassau, but if that is the reason for not putting the brackets on Track, that would be a real shame.

Sell the brackets?  Where??  I got there about 2pm on Saturday, and there were no brackets or programs available anywhere!  Then I was there this morning for the semis, and still none.  But hey, what did I expect for 30 bucks?

Thank God I got to see kids wrestling their hearts out!  I'll take getting ripped off for that.

the brackets were on track all weekend. I know this because I followed the tournament while away all weekend. sometimes look before coming on here to bash the section 8 staff

Any chance someone taped the 'live feed' of the County Finals & would be willing to post it here? If that's possible? I was there both days...and would love to hear the actual 'live' commentary of the finals. Thanks in advance. *If there is a link of sorts instead that I could pay for myself to watch it, I would be willing to do that as well, if someone has that particular info...kindly appreciated!

Ah I see. Nassau decided to name the tournament "Section Div 1 Championships" instead of "Section VIII Div 1 Championships," even though it has used the Roman numeral VIII every year since the tournament started being hosted on Track. In hindsight, seems like an unnecessary change that made it hard to find the bracket (Section XI for example, still uses the Roman numeral on Track).

However, that being the case, there was no link on this site or elsewhere about any bracket, nor on the Section VIII flyer, that made reference to any bracket. I understand that much of the coverage (outside of the paid broadcast) is not for profit and is done out of goodwill (and it's much appreciated), but that doesn't mean the coverage can't be criticized.

Anyone know the results of the D2 section 8 championships? They seem to be the only section not reporting results anywhere.

I did not see brackets available "all weekend".  I went to the tournament on track, and was hit with "brackets not available".  They were available at around midnight on Saturday.  If they were posted elsewhere, it would have been nice if someone had stated that.  I was at the tournament Saturday until I had to leave around 5, and thought I'd be able to track the wrestlebacks.......but that's the message I got from Track.  And even stranger, they were not even available in Farmingdale unless you took pictures of them hanging on the wall!

I hate to be a contrarian, but the brackets didn't get released to the public until approximately 11pm on Saturday night. On the first day of the tournament the venue also ran out of programs, gear (lots of qualifiers were unable to purchase the tee with their names on it), drinks, and food.  Lots of folks going across the street for food, or ordering delivery to the venue.  The vending machines were finally allowed to be used around 7pm.

This isn't a bash as I can only imagine what goes into planning an event this size, but it wasn't all peaches and cream.  Fortunately, the tournament itself ran like clockwork. The Goulds, and the rest if the table staff, refs, etc. Did a great job keeping things moving on Saturday and Sunday.  The finals and awards presentation were great.

Coaches were notified the food would be an issue due to the lack of a concession stand at the facility.  As far as the brackets go, its the same argument every year.  I do believe that we are looking to change some things up for next year and run the entire tournament through Trackwrestling.  We actually threw out a bunch of programs at the end of the night.  Definitely needed more gear to sell.  New venue so figuring everything out the first year is tough.  Venue was great, bigger than LIU Post and Hofstra is not available for the foreseeable future.

Impressive showing to say the least by Long Beach at 113

113 finals - Jeremiah Echeverria (Long Beach), dec. Killian Foy (MacArthur), 7-2

113 3rd/4th - Kevin Lopez (Long Beach), dec. Jafet Velasquez (Long Beach), 8-2

obviously Echeverria heading upstate and returning state finalist Foy should be lock 🔒 for a WC
can Lopez grab a 2nd WC for sec 8 at 113 ?

all 3 return next season

Lots of people were looking for programs, but couldnt find them, even after asking people where they were.  So if they were tucked away than thrown out, that was money lost.  Venue was great.  Lots of space inside, and parking outside.

Lopez has a decent shot at a WC.  10 sectional points plus a third place county finish last year.  Not sure if he beat any state placeholders at ES, but that would be helpful too.

kudos to John Mankowich and Mike Leonard on running two successful county tournaments.  People will always find things to point out that weren’t perfect but the reality is that wrestling is the hardest sport a to coordinate in all of high school athletics and you guys put on outstanding County tournaments. As a fan, I thank you and thought this weekend was extremely enjoyable, well coordinated and fun. Most importantly, it was about the kids.

Congrats to both Mr. Bill Young and Mr. Maddock on their years of service to Nassau Wrestling and on your great careers!

Ed Ramirez.
